How Often Have I Been This Wrong?

johnvermeersch From the anthemic "Even if We're The Same" and "Speak Softly" to the quiet and beautiful "The Moment of Impact" and "Everything", lead vocalist Gavin McIntire gives a passionate (occasionally screamed) performance on every song. Coupled with synth player Jade Marié's softer backing vocals (which blend fantastically with McIntire's lead) and drummer Nick Billinghurst's creative, forceful playing, this refreshing, modern take on early emo is well worth anybody's time.
Favorite track: Go.

Freddie French-Pounce While we all celebrate the fact Steadyfire have finally put out their debut LP, let us not overlook how great this album truly is. The album feels planned out, flowing unbelievably beautifully, and has a wonderful sense of cohesion that can be hard to find. Tracks such as "Hands" and "Speak Softly" are complete and utter earworms, while "(Nothing) Holier Remains" and the title track serve as beautiful bases for the band's wonderful musicianship. Favorite track: Hands.

Logan McConnell This album has become increasingly important to me the more I listen to it. I love so much of the creativity and originality that it holds. The flow makes listening to only one track impossible for me, which is a great thing. I also admire the band’s connection to their fans and supporters. Keep it up, ya’ll. Favorite track: Go.

about

Disclaimer: We have been trying to professionally record an album since 2014. It turns out self-funding an album isn't exactly easy and after four years and a total lineup change, we decided to do it ourselves in our practice space. We could go on forever about how difficult that decision made our lives, but here it is. We did it.

Note: To you reading this, "How Often Have I Been This Wrong?" is for you as much as it is for us. It is one of many things that now connects us, no matter how different we seem. Always remember that you are loved, of value, and have the potential to do truly amazing things. This all might never make sense, but no one is alone.

The debut album by Steadyfire. Released on January 4th, 2019.
Recorded independently in a garage throughout 2018. Written mostly between April and September 2018, recorded between July and December 2018.

Special thanks to: you for listening, our families for supporting, Michael Pfaff for getting stuck in our yard after a 10 hour recording session, Chris Teti of TWIABP for calling track two "so sick" and providing us with so many touring tips, Eric Emery of Skyharbor for helping guide the band through some important (to us) moments, Andy Hull for making music that convinced me to write words as I see them, all of the bands we played with when we were too small to book our own shows, the amazing people we are yet to meet, Grant Cowell, Jeff Corbin, Michael Rowland of Dermot for being a great listener, Frederick James French-Pounce of Hypnotic Eye for telling me my mixes suck (and being right every time) since 2015, Tyler Scruggs for the endless musings on pop culture, Phill Vidler for giving the most descriptive feedback I have ever seen, and XRP Radio for being the first station of any kind to give us a home.
